What does a Light Board Operator do?

The LIGHT BOARD OPERATOR is responsible for programming and running the light board for a production during technical rehearsals and performances. Under supervision of the LIGHTING DESIGNER, the LIGHT BOARD OPERATOR (or Light Op for short) works with the STAGE MANAGER, TECHNICAL DIRECTOR, and MASTER ELECTRICIAN to ensure all lighting cues are recorded accurately and that proper checks and maintenance of lighting equipment are completed.
